Congrats to Leadership Sioux Falls

Congratulations to the latest graduating class of Leadership Sioux Falls, including my wife, Kate. Spending the evening surrounded by smart, accomplished, civically engaged people with different backgrounds and worldviews served as a heartening reminder that serious, solutions-oriented leadership can be found in every corner of our community.

“Touch grass” became internet slang for a reason. It is a reminder to step away from online outrage and reconnect with reality. Not everything is a catastrophe. Not everything is on fire. There is still quite a bit of good in this world.

Keynote speaker and Sioux Falls School District Superintendent Dr. Jamie Nold reinforced that sense of grounded, service-oriented leadership. At a time when public education often finds itself at the center of political frustration, his thoughtful, service-focused remarks left real confidence in his leadership of our public schools and future leaders.

I’m deeply proud of Kate, and hopeful more of us spend time engaging the real world and building common-sense solutions together. That’s what I intend to do in Pierre for District 13
